Ham is a truly festive centerpiece and no Christmas dinner would be the same without it on the table, it's a family-favourite dish to add to the gargantuan feast.
On its own, ham is tasty enough, but glaze it with marmalade and you know you have got something special to impress your guests and family with. After all, it's the festive season, the time of indulgence and gourmet dishes.

Ingredients used to make marmalade glaze for ham
- marmalade - either store-bought or homemade, whatever you have around
- honey - a little goes a long way, it helps create a sticky glaze that is fragrant and delicious
- dijon mustard - its tanginess balances out the sweetness of the marmalade and honey
- orange juice - helps loosen up the glaze
- mixed spice - or pumpkin spice for the US readers, adds a festive touch to the glaze
- whole cloves - they are not used for the glaze, but adding more festive cheer to the ham
Step-by-step photos and instructions
- to make the glaze, add the marmalade, orange juice, mixed spice, mustard and honey to a pan and mix well
- set the pan over a medium heat, and let the glaze simmer for 7-8 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly
- remove the rind off the cooked ham, and use a sharp knife to score the fat into diamonds, being careful not to cut too deep into the ham
- insert a clove in each diamond
- glaze generously with the marmalade mixture
- bake in the preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius (390 Fahrenheit) for 25 minutes until the ham is golden

It is crucial to use a cooked ham for this recipe, if you have a raw joint of gammon, this has to be cooked beforehand. Once the ham is cooked, then you can follow the instructions on how to glaze it.

Glazed Ham with Marmalade and Mustard
Ingredients
- 1 cooked ham ( I used a 1.5 kg / 3 lb joint of cooked ham)
- ½ cup marmalade
- 3 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice ( or pumpkin spice)
- ¼ cup whole cloves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (390 Fahrenheit).
- To make the glaze, add the marmalade, honey, orange juice, dijon mustard and mixed spices to a pan set over a medium heat.
- Mix well and let the mixture simmer for 7-8 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.
- Use a sharp knife to remove the rind off the cooked ham, then score diamonds into the fat.
- Insert a whole clove into each diamond.
- Use a brush to glaze the ham really well, then bake the ham for 25 minutes until the ham is golden.
