Expert tips
The egg acts as a binding agent, and it also keeps the salmon balls moist and juicy in the oven. Without the egg, the balls will be on the tougher side, so I highly recommend adding it to the recipe.
The salmon meatballs can also be cooked in an air fryer at the same temperature, just keep an eye on them after 10-12 minutes, as they might cook faster, and shake the air fryer drawer half the way through the cooking time.
If you don't have cooking oil spray, just drizzle some regular or olive oil over the salmon bites, it helps give them a good colour while baking.
If you do not have a blender, use a shark knife to chop the salmon fillets really finely, even if there are some small bits, the egg will bind everything together well.
As an alternative, these Air Fryer Salmon Bites are as delicious, and they also go down amazingly well with kids of all ages too.
