Ingredients overview

- cornflakes - I used regular cornflakes, since there is so much sweetness coming from the chocolate and golden syrup, there is no need to use the sugar-coated frosties, I think the bars will be sickly sweet otherwise
- milk chocolate & white chocolate - I used what I had around, but you can go for any chocolate you wish or have: milk only, white only, dark chocolate only, for a mix of everything
- butter - adds extra richness and sets the chocolate beautifully
- golden syrup - can be swapped for honey if you don't have any
- mini eggs and mini creme eggs - for decorating, you can also add any other chocolate treats to top these cornflake squares
There's also an empty bowl in my picture, to be honest I have no idea why it made it into the picture, I only noticed it after I uploaded it, perhaps I wanted to put the mini eggs in, but somehow it was left
Why the recipe works

Expert tips
Don't cut down on the amount of chocolate used, it's important to keep the ratio cornflake to melted chocolate, otherwise the squares won't set well and they will be crumbly and hard to slice.
You can either freeze the cornflake mixture if you want to serve these treats quickly - it shoudn't need more than half an hour in the freezer, or you can refrigerate it for at least 1 hour, ideally longer.
Keep the cornflake bars in the fridge if you are not going to consume them quickly, a warm room will make the chocolate melt and the squares will be quite messy.
An easy way of slicing the mini Cadbury creme eggs is to freeze them for at least 30 minutes. Use a sharp knife to slice them in the middle vertically, you will get 2 perfect halves that are not messy at all!
