Halloween Chocolate Bark, a fun no-bake treat that comes together really quickly with only melted chocolate and Halloween edible decorations like sprinkles and googly eyes. It's an easy Halloween activity to get the kids involved in, and it's really delicious!
I have lots of Halloween recipes to choose from on the blog, some spookier than others, and all yummy and easy to make. But this Halloween chocolate bark is perhaps one of the easiest sweet treat to come up with.
You only need some good chocolate to melt and any edible spooky decorations to have around, literally anything can do, as long as it fits the theme.
And if you want to get the kids involved, even better. I am sure they will have lots of fun adding the sprinkles and other decorations ( and licking the chocolate bowl afterwards!).
You can never go wrong with chocolate, and while I used dark chocolate, you can go for any other kind: white, milk or a combo of them.
Ingredients used
- dark chocolate - choose a good-quality chocolate, as that will make the difference when it comes to melting and savouring it
- Halloween edible decorations - sprinkles, googly eyes, sugar decorations
Step-by-step photos and instructions
- break the chocolate into pieces, and add them to a bowl set over a pot of simmering water
- leave it to melt
- line a roasting tray with non-stick paper, and spread the melted chocolate in a thin layer
- add the edible decorations and leave it to set before cutting / breaking it into shards
Expert tips
Melting the chocolate has to be a slow process, a high heat will make the chocolate grainy and will not melt as smoothly as it should.
Make sure the bowl does not touch the bottom of the pan - I always have the heat set on low, even if that means it will take a bit longer for the chocolate to melt.
You really need a non-stick paper to spread the chocolate over, once set, it will be super easy to remove it, if the chocolate is spread straight onto a tray, it will be pretty hard to do anything afterwards.
I find that the best way to keep the paper onto the tray is putting a few blobs of butter on the tray, the paper will stick to the butter and stay in place.
The decorations have to be added as soon as the chocolate is spread, it does tend to set pretty fast, depending on the room temperature. If the chocolate sets, the decorations won't stick.
