Apple Crumble with Oats, an old-fashioned Autumn dessert that is the very definition of perfection. Perfectly juicy apples with a lovely hint of cinnamon and crispy oat topping; it really can't get better than that. The nation's favourite dessert that is very easy to make at home from scratch with a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 6 cooking apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 150 g butter + more for greasing the baking dish
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 150 g plain flour
  • 50 g porridge oats
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Butter the baking dish well.
  • Peel, core and chop the apples into smaller chunks.
  • Add them to the baking dish together with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Toss well to combine.
  • Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly.
  • Sift the flour in a bowl, add the melted butter, vanilla extract, sugar and oats.
  • Mix well.
  • Top the apples with the oat mixture and bake in the preheated oven at 190 degrees Celsius (375 Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes until golden and bubbling hot.
