Pasta Carbonara with bacon lardons, parmesan cheese and eggs. If you like pasta, you will love this 20-minute Italian dish. No cream, no complicated sauces, just the real deal. The creamy carbonara sauce can't be any simpler, it just uses eggs and parmesan, no actual cream. It's a delicious midweek dinner that everyone can cook, even complete beginners, and it caters for all tastes and budgets. Spaghetti is the usual choice, but any kind of pasta would do.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 packet of dried spaghetti
  • 100 g bacon lardons
  • 1 large egg
  • 40 g grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
  1. Bring a pan of water to the boil, add salt, then in go the spaghetti.

  2. Cook according to the packet instructions.
  3. Meantime, heat up a frying pan and add the bacon lardons. Cook until crispy. Mix in the garlic powder and set aside.
  4. In a bowl, beat the egg, then add half of the parmesan and mix well.
  5. When the spaghetti are cooked, reserve a ladleful of the water, and drain the rest.

  6. Add the cooked bacon and egg mixture and mix very well.
  7. Add enough of the cooking water to get a sauce that sticks to the spaghetti.
  8. Chop some fresh parsley and top the spaghetti.
  9. Sprinkle some more parmesan and black pepper to taste.
  10. Serve immediately!
