Oven Baked Chicken Drumsticks with a touch of garlic and paprika, a simple recipe that goes down well with the whole family. The chicken has crispy skin, but the inside is moist and juicy without being greasy, making dinner time as easy as you can get.

Ingredients

  • 11 chicken drumsticks (skin on)
  • 1 ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon garlic granules
  • 2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (400 degrees Fahrenheit, 180 degrees fan oven).
  • Add the drumsticks to a large bowl together with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Toss well to coat the chicken pieces with the paprika mixture.
  • Arrange the drumsticks on an oven rack placed over a baking tray lined with kitchen foil so that the grease released can drip onto the tray.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, then flip the drumsticks over, and increase the temperature to 220 degrees Celsius (425 Fahrenheit, 200 degrees fan oven).
  • Bake for a further 15 minutes.

Notes

  • I absolutely love this chicken recipe, the meat simply falls off the bones. Increasing the oven temperature ensures the skin crisps up nicely after all the fat is melted.
  • Having the drumsticks placed over a baking tray lined with kitchen foil means that all the fat can drip in the tray, we remove the foil, and there is no mess whatsoever.
  • If the chicken legs are baked in a dish rather than on a rack, all the fat released will stay in the dish, making the chicken rather oily.
