Steak with Peppercorn Sauce

Fillet Steak with Black Peppercorn Sauce, a fantastic recipe that is ready in well under 15 minutes. The peppercorn sauce is made without cream, yet it still has a smooth and creamy texture, and a peppery kick that takes the steak to the next level. Serve it with mash and greens, for the ultimate family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 fillet steaks
  • 25 g butter
  • 1 ½ tablespoon flour
  • 250 ml beef broth
  • 100 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoon peppercorns
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Season the steaks with salt.
  • Heat up the oil, and cook each steak on both sides for 1-2 minutes depending if you like them rare, medium or well done.
  • Remove from the pan and set aside to rest.
  • In the same pan, melt the butter, add the flour and whisk well to get a smooth paste.
  • Pour in the broth and milk, and continue to whisk until the sauce thickens.
  • Add the peppercorns to a zip lock bag, and use a rolling pin to crush them slightly, then add them to the sauce, and give it a good stir.
  • Serve the fillet steaks with the sauce, mash and greens.
