STEAK PIE with puff pastry

Serve it with mashed potatoes and peas for the ultimate British feast experience.

INGREDIENTS: – stewing beef  – beef stock/broth – onion – carrots – celery stalk – bay leaves – tomato puree – salt& pepper – puff pastry – oil & butter – egg –  corn starch

Heat up the oil in a large pan, season the beef with salt and pepper, and sear

Remove the beef from the pan and set aside

In the same pan, add the butter and allow it to melt

Fry the onion, then add the chopped carrots and celery stalks

Add the bay leaves and return the beef to the pan

Pour in the stock and leave to cook until the beef is tender

Add the tomato paste and check for seasoning - leave the filling to cool down

Transfer the filling to an ovenproof fish

Top with the puff pastry, brush with beaten egg, then bake

Comforting, hearty, a great dish for Father's Day too.
