Crescent rolls recipe with strawberry jam

Crescent rolls recipe with strawberry jam, or cornulete cu gem de capsune in Romanian, absolutely delicious and super easy to make. Buttery, almost melting in your mouth, with a distinct strawberry flavour, these crescents are all you need.

They are super popular in Romania, mum used to make them a lot when I was a child, and that is because they do not require loads of ingredients, you would almost always have them in the kitchen. Plus, you get many rolls, more than enough to satisfy your cravings. No need for ready-made dough, you can make your own in no time.

It is quite common to swap the jam (and you can really use any kind of jam) for turkish delight. If you do use jam, I would suggest not to use too much, as otherwise it will spread during baking.

And be very careful when you take them out of the oven, as they jam will be super hot. Other than that, make yourself a cup of tea or coffee, get the remote and watch a good movie while enjoying these delicious rolls. And do not feel guilty if you have them for breakfast too, after all, they are hard to resist. Another Romanian treat I absolutely love is Chocolate croissants recipe with cranberries and walnuts, another kind of crescents, but this time the breakfast type.

Like many others, these crescent rolls are also a part of my childhood, the treat mum used to make on a Sunday. I don’t know how it is somewhere else, but in my family, Sundays are truly resting days. It’s all about spending time together as a family, perhaps having visitors, eating cooked food and having some rest. Nothing has changed in years, and they still have pretty much the same routine.

Sometimes I wish I wa still there with them, but I guess that’s how life works, kids grow, spread their wings, and leave the nest in the pursuit of happiness. But there is always a good way of living those sweet moments again, and that’st through the food that has marked out childhood.

An interesting way of making the dough/pastry. I’ve never seen it made with yogurt before. The rolls do look very moreish!
